Bombarded by nutritional information we move between replacing one food for another, diets, counting calories, portion control, supplements, food shakes, food packages and more. We read, ask the experts, go to nutritionists and gather lots of information that we experiment with or not. We use the body as an ignorant guinea pig. Out of care we try to sort our body issues through endless experimentation and trials.
Very often we become more confused and less consistent in the way how we nurture ourselves, and in doing this, we sacrifice eating joy, we satanize our favourite treats. Some times we punish our bodies with food that is not tasty, not enough and/or does not meet the body’s needs, plus we are neglecting a very important role of eating: giving pleasure. When we do not experience pleasure while eating, the experience is not complete. Often, instead of pleasure with eat with stress, fear, sense of duty which is counterproductive for a healthy body weight.
Nutritional Information is important, however, our bodies born with something much more powerful: Nutritional Wisdom, and this is our birth right. The body born knowing which is the food good, healthy and needed, therefore the body is always giving us feedback, and when we align with this wisdom and listen to the body while eating or choosing our food, we embody that wisdom. Many of us have forgotten this but the body never does.
Many reasons why this body confusion can happen from culture, emotional issues, life style, and in my opinion, we are not well educated around embodiment into acknowledging this wisdom. In a culture that is manipulated through fast living and making profits, we listen more the outside messages than our own body voices. Through many years of practicing disembodiment while adopting eating habits that we are told, we confuse the body and the body gets used to these flavours, tastes, and more. The body does it in order to survive which is the primal body's need.
I am a great advocator of nutritional education, it provides us with foundations to live healthy and strong, however, inside every body there is information that has been tested, crafted and refined for hundred of thousands of years and we mis-align with body principles when when we stop listening to this wisdom.
What is needed to merge nutritional Information with Nutritional Wisdom: Sometimes a good body reset is what the body needs. A Pause where we change habits. For many people having a health crisis is an invitation to change their eating preferences, going into healing diets, elimination diets and so on.
However we don't need to get unwell, we all can serve well from re-setting our eating habits, so that our body works more in harmony with nature principles.
Some Suggestions:
-Fasting: There are many fasting protocols. Yo can strat by making the gaps between your meals longer, avoiding sacking between meals. Making fasting part of your routine
-Stopping/Cutting the consume of Ultra Processed Food.
-Stopping/cutting white sugars and white grains.
-Get into a Yearly liver, colon and kidneys detoxing routine
Resets do not happen overnight, building positive habits usually take time (in contrast with bad habits that grab on us quickly). Adapting one habit at the time gives us time to receive body feed back for us to be more deliberate in our choices, and perfect the way how you approach to food and nutrition.
NUTRITIONAL WISDOM IS LIKE AN INNER EATING COMPASS THE OUR BODIES COME EQUIPPED WITH FOR US TO NAVIGATE HEALTHY AND STRONG IN ORDER TO MEET BIGGER GOALS THAN SURVIVAL
