My Husband and and I starting our Spring Kidney Cleanse- February 2022
Introduction
In a world of increasing longevity and technological advancement, humanity faces a paradox: while we are living longer, we are not necessarily living healthier. Chronic conditions like obesity, diabetes, depression, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disorders, and neurodegenerative illnesses are on the rise. A hidden yet significant contributor to this modern health crisis is body toxicity.
Our bodies are naturally equipped to detoxify and maintain homeostasis. However, the influx of new, unnatural, and synthetic toxins—from food, air, water, medications, and personal care products—has overwhelmed our systems. These toxins not only affect our physical health but also disrupt our mental and emotional well-being. Understanding and addressing toxicity is a crucial step in regaining vitality and achieving a sustainable, healthy body weight.

1. Understanding Body Toxicity
What Is Body Toxicity?
Body toxicity refers to the accumulation of harmful substances that the body struggles to eliminate. These substances include heavy metals, synthetic chemicals, processed food additives, environmental pollutants, and more. When the level of these toxins exceeds the body’s natural detoxification capacity, health issues begin to manifest.
Common Symptoms of Toxicity:
Chronic fatigue
Inflammation and weight gain
Hormonal imbalances
Brain fog, memory issues, poor concentration
Skin issues, allergies, food intolerances
Insomnia and sleep disturbances
Mood swings, depression, irritability
Constipation, bloating, digestive discomfort
Joint pain and reduced mobility
Frequent infections or slow recovery from illness
2. How Toxicity Affects Body Weight
Toxins contribute to weight gain and resistance to weight loss in several ways:
Inflammation: The body stores toxins in fat cells to protect vital organs. This often leads to stubborn weight and chronic inflammation.
Metabolic Sluggishness: Detox systems consume energy, leaving less for digestion and fat burning.
Hormonal Disruption: Toxins can mimic or block hormones like insulin, cortisol, and leptin—interfering with hunger cues and increasing cravings as well as sleep distortions. Insomnia and sleep distortion affects our burning calories process.
Emotional Eating: Toxins can dull mental clarity and emotional stability, driving us toward overeating or unhealthy food choices.
3. How Detoxing Supports Healthy Weight and Vitality
A detoxified body can:
Burn fat more efficiently
Keep inflammation to the minimum, inflammation can be beneficial for the body.
Rebalance hormones
Improve digestion and nutrient absorption
Enhance sleep quality
Increase energy and motivation
Improve energy levels. Since the body is not busy trying to get rid of toxins, there is more available energy.
Diminish cravings and emotional eating
By supporting detoxification, we return to our natural state of balance and vitality.
4. Simple and Sustainable Detox Practices
Everyday Detox Tips:
Clean Eating: Choose organic, whole foods. Avoid preservatives, additives, refined sugars, and artificial ingredients.
Hydration: Drink at least 2 litres of clean water daily. Include herbal teas and water-rich fruits/vegetables.
Breath work & Oxygenation: Practice deep breathing. Spend time in nature.
Movement: Engage in consistent exercise to support the lymphatic and cardiovascular systems. Choose a practice that you enjoy and does not stress you out in order to activate body endorphins.
Sunlight & Vitamin D: Boost immune function and detox pathways through sunlight exposure.
Intermittent Fasting: Give your digestive system breaks to promote autophagy and fat burning.
Reduce Toxic Products: Use natural cleaning and beauty products to avoid heavy metals and endocrine disruptors.
Supportive Nutrition: Include probiotics, prebiotics, phytobiotics, healthy fats, and adaptogenic herbs and mushrooms.
Colon Support: Consider colon cleansing or hydrotherapy, especially if you have a history of constipation.
Sweating: Expose your body to sun light and also to sauna, hot baths and strength sexercise. Sweating is a way for the body to get rid of toxins.
5. How to Start your detox:
Kidney Cleanse
The kidneys filter around 200 litres of blood daily. Blocked pathways reduce the body's ability to excrete toxins. Apart from this the Kidney hold important emotions and when we engage with the physical level of detox, there is more energy available to access and cleanse these emotional links such as fear and insecurity
Start here (with Kidneys detox) before any other detox since they are essential for filtering waste and toxins from the blood,
Support with herbs like dandelion, horsetail, dandelion, and adaptogens
Liver Cleanse
Once the kidneys are functioning optimally, focus on the liver—our master detox organ.
Use proven protocols under expert guidance.
The liver’s cleansing enhances fat metabolism and hormonal regulation.
Fasting & Ketosis
Ketosis helps the body burn stored fat (and the toxins within).
For 3–4 weeks: eliminate processed foods, sugars, caffeine, alcohol, and most carbs.
Include omega-3s, healthy fats, and vegetables.
Seek guidance if it’s your first time—emotional and physical challenges may arise.
6. Emotional & Mental Detox
Our beliefs, traumas, and unprocessed emotions are as toxic as physical substances. They can lead to:
Addictions and unhealthy eating patterns
Chronic stress and hormonal imbalances
Suppressed immunity and energy depletion
Emotional Detox Strategies:
Practice mindfulness and self-awareness.
Identify and release limiting beliefs.
Seek support (therapy, coaching, holistic modalities).
Use tools like The Sedona Method, Inner Child Work, Feeding Your Demons, PSYCH-K, Theta Healing. There are many resources to help us in these emotional cleanse.
Meditate regularly to observe and transform thoughts in a compassionate, non-judgmental way.
Practice emotional hygiene, forgiveness and self-forgiveness—release negativity regularly and gently.
Conclusion: A Return to Wholeness
Our bodies are not separate from our minds or our spirits. True detoxification is a journey back to wholeness—where we respect the wisdom of the body, honour our emotional landscapes, and cultivate clarity of thought.
Detoxing is not about deprivation or quick fixes. It’s about creating space—in the body, the mind, and the heart—for healing, balance, and growth.
By reducing toxic burdens and enhancing our natural systems of elimination, we unlock the body’s extraordinary capacity to heal, regenerate, and thrive, adopting a detox life style is about being a good partner for our bodies, making its work lighter and more efficient.
